SLBFE urges Sri Lankans not to illegally cross into Israel

Sri Lankans in the vicinity of Israel have been requested to refrain from illegally entering the country through any borders at present.

The request was made by the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) due to the escalating conflict between Israel and Palestine.

SLBFE Media Spokesman Gamini Senarath Yapa said no further danger has been reported for Sri Lankans in Israel and their safety has been ensured as of now.

Addressing the media today, he said that necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of Sri Lankans in Israel in view of the escalating tensions with Palestine.

Gamini Senarath Yapa further said that 32 Sri Lankans are currently in prison in Israel.

Providing an update on the missing Sri Lankan man, he said steps are being taken to obtain details of the individual, identified as Yatawara Bandara.

“Measures are being taken in coordination with the Sri Lankan Embassy in Israel. We might have to obtain the DNA of a close relative of Bandara in the event that the identification of a body is required,” he said. (NewsWire)
