SLC intervenes with sponsorship to secure local TV coverage for WI tour

The Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) has successfully bagged the rights to telecast Sri Lanka’s ongoing tour of the West Indies.

After much negotiations, all matches of the West Indies series will be telecast live from the second Twenty-20 match onwards, on Channel Eye.

Earlier, despite announcing that the series will be telecast on Channel Eye, the television network was forced to cancel telecasting of the first Twenty-20 International match due to an issue with the broadcaster.

For the benefit of the cricket-loving public, Sri Lanka Cricket has decided to bear the US$ 8,400 needed for the Real-Time Messaging Protocol to air the matches in Sri Lanka.

The SLRC said it had sought the SLC’s assistance to sponsor the ‘RTMP Cost’ of the Live TV Broadcast, only on the 04th March 2021.

It pointed out that however, PITCH International acting on behalf of the West Indies Cricket Board, made a last-minute price revision, from what was originally agreed.

Cricket enthusiast can now watch the second Twnety-20 International match between Sri Lanka and the West Indies tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile, the Road Safety World Series, in which the Sri Lanka Legends team will participate, is also set to be telecasted on Channel Eye. (NewsWire)
