Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is currently richer than New Zealand Cricket, SLC President Shammi Silva told the media today.
He said the SLC’s fixed deposit holds over US$ 40 million at present, which has been collected over the last 2-3 years by the current administration.
Prior to the current SLC administration coming into power, the SLC never had beyond US$ 2 million in its account.
However, the current administration has collected over US$ 40 million in the last 2-3 years.
Sri Lanka Cricket now has more funds than New Zealand cricket which has only US$ 35 million, he revealed.
The SLC President further said that Sri Lanka has also received more than US$ 4 million from the Asia Cup, despite not being able to host the tournament.
He further said that the International Cricket Council is surprised that the SLC has not requested a loan over the last 2-3 years as prior to this the SLC has always been operating by obtaining loans from the ICC.
“People who know details of the finances in the SLC’s fixed deposit are now creating a mudslinging campaign and throwing around allegations which are eventually going to result in destroying the sport again,” he pointed out.
Shammi Silva added that the SLC administration will not allow external elements to destroy the sport of cricket again. (NewsWire)
