The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) appointed its new office bearers today but left the post of national organizer vacant this time with a request for Basil Rajapaksa to take over at one point, Hambanthota District MP Namal Rajapakse said.
The party’s executive committee that met at the official residence of leader Mahinda Rajapaksa took these decisions.
MP Sagara Kariyawasam was appointed General Secretary once again. Besides , MP Pavitra Wanniarachchi was appointed as the new treasurer of the party.
Ven. Uthurawala Dammaratana Thera was reappointed as the chairman of the party.
Meanwhile, the SLPP also appointed members to its politburo, where deputy national organizers’ posts were also created this time. The party is expected to pick a Tamil and Muslim to these posts later.
