SLPP MP released from case filed for making principal kneel down

Parliamentarian Chamara Sampath Dassanayake has been acquitted and released from all charges pertaining to the case that was filed against him for making the principal of the Badulla Tamil Girl’s School kneel down. 

The incident had taken place during the MPs tenure as the Chief Minister of the Uva Province. 

Badulla Magistrate Chaminda Karunadasa yesterday acquitted and released the Parliamentarian from all charges pertaining to the case. 

The verdict was granted after the two parties had reached a settlement at the Badulla Conciliation Board. 

The case had been filed against Parliamentarian Chamara Sampath Dassanayake based on a complaint that had been lodged by the principal following the incident. 

On the directive of the Attorney General (AG) the Badulla Magistrate had forwarded the case to the Badulla Conciliation Board. 

Thereby, when summoned by the Board, both parties had reached a settlement on the matter. (NewsWire)
