The Department of Immigration and Emigration says prior appointments are compulsory to apply for passports under the one-day and normal services.
In a statement, the department said it has already informed the public to obtain prior appointments before visiting the department.
However, it has been observed that a large number of clients visit to obtain services without making prior appointments.
The department said regrettably, it has to announce that henceforth, services will only be provided to the applicants who have made prior appointments for the one-day and normal services to obtain passports.
The inconvenience caused to the public who visit without obtaining prior appointments is unavoidable, it added.
The department further said appointments can be made by visiting the website http://www.immigration.gov.lk/ or contact number 070-7101-060.
Passport services are provided from 8.30 am to 3.00 pm on public working days, it added. (NewsWire)
