Minister of Sports Namal Rajapaksa has instructed Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to look into issues raised by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) over the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka.
BCB Chief Nazmul Hassan had rejected SLC’s terms and conditions for the Test series, including a 14-day strict quarantine and a smaller touring group.
Following the rejection, Minister of Sports Namal Rajapaksa has instructed the SLC to negotiate with the National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 and reconsider the objections raised by the BCB.
He further said Sri Lanka is well aware that the COVID-19 pandemic is still at large globally and prevention measures are a high priority.
The SLC has been instructed to reconsider the matter talking to health authorities given the significance of cricket in the region, Minister Namal Rajapaksa added. (NewsWire)
As we all know the #COVID19 pandemic is still at large globally, prevention measures are a high priority. However, given the significance of #cricket in the region, I have asked @OfficialSLC to consult the covid task force and reconsider the @BCBtigers matter. https://t.co/Ed9VtwpEt0
