An inmate has been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital to retrieve a mobile phone that was reportedly stuck in his rectum.
The inmate was transferred to the hospital after doctors at the Welikada prison hospital failed to retrieve the mobile phone.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect who was produced in court over a drug offence had been handed over a mobile phone prior to his return to the prison, which he had hidden in his rectum.
