The cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to draft a new bill to address and prevent child pornography from being shared via information technology and other media.
The new draft bill will be drawn by the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (lCTA) and the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT) on the advise of the Attorney General.
The cabinet of Ministers believe the provisions included in the penal code and the Obscene Publications Ordinance to deal with such matters, appear to be inadequate to meet the present circumstances.
The proposal submitted by the Minister of Justice has been approved and the legal draftsman has been advised to proceed with the preparation of the new bill. (NewsWire)
