A Sri Lankan has been arrested by the Chennai Air Customs for attempting to smuggle in gold worth Rs. 297.6 million.
The Chennai Air Customs has seized 690 grams of gold that was smuggled by two people.
The suspects had arrived in Chennai, India on a flight from Colombo on Monday (06).
The gold had been concealed as burkha buttons and in the rectum in the form of paste.
The stock of gold has been seized under the Customs Act, 1962, while one person has been arrested. (NewsWire)
