A Sri Lankan Tusker Rewatha, named by Samagi Jana Balawegaya leader MP Sajith Premadasa, has been found dead.
It has been reported that the Tusker found in the Balalu Wewa wildlife forest reserve in Kala Wewa, had died due to electrocution.
The majestic Tusker of Sri Lanka is said to have been electrocuted by unauthorized electric fences set up for the protection of illegal farmlands within the forest reserve.

Commenting on the incident, MP Sajith Premadasa urged the Government to initiate an urgent and impartial inquiry into Rewatha’s death.
He further called on the Government to take stringent measures to punish the culprits.
Meanwhile, wildlife activists have pointed out that growing deforestation has led to habitat loss and therefore elephants are found to be roaming in human habitats to fulfill their needs. (NewsWire)
