The Foreign Ministry has reached out to the Sri Lanka Embassy in Beijing over non-slip doormats bearing the Sri Lanka flag being advertised for online purchase on Amazon.
Foreign Secretary Admiral Jayanath Colombage has informed the Sri Lanka Embassy to contact the manufacturer of the doormats, who is based in China.
The Foreign Secretary is also reported to have drawn the attention of the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka on the advertising of Sri Lanka’s national flag as a doormat.
Admiral Jayanath Colombage has also instructed the Sri Lanka Embassy in Washington D.C to follow up on the matter with Amazon.
The instructions were issued after there were reports on social media of a “Sri Lanka Flag Non-Slip Doormat” being advertised for online purchase on the Amazon website. (NewsWire)
