State Minister Geetha Kumarasinghe has said that she opposes the attempts to stop child band group called “Ashawari” from Medirigiriya.
She said that instead of objecting, authorities must support talented youngsters as it’s rare to find people with artistic talents.
“Will we see a Micheal Jackson if they had prevented him from singing at a young age? He started singing from age 10” she questioned.
State Minister of Women, Child Affairs and Social Empowerment added that there is no such law that prohibits young children from performing at musical shows.
Earlier this week, several state officials had visited the houses of Ashawari band members and had instructed them to stop the band . (NewsWire)
