A 43-year-old woman has been arrested for attempting suicide after throwing her underage child into the Kelani River.
The Police said the woman had thrown her 05-year-old son into the Kelani River from the Kadirana Bridge in Wattala.
She had been detained by the locals in the area as she was attempting to jump off the bridge and was consequently arrested by the Police.
A search operation is underway to find the missing child. (NewsWire)
