The boy who was taken by the Police in place of his father, lodges complain against Police

The boy in the much-talked about recent incident, where a minor from Elpitiya was taken by the Police until his father was available for questioning, spoke to the media about what happened.

“I was in the room and suddenly someone knocked on the window. I saw two people, one with a shovel and the other with a rod. I didn’t open the door initially, but did so when I saw an officer in uniform. They told me that my father had bought something illegally and contacted him over the phone and spoke for a while. Then they said that they can’t wait until my father comes back, so they’re going to take me with them”, he stated.

Speaking further on the ordeal he went through, he said that he told them that he cannot come with them because his younger brother will be home alone, if he did so. “Then I went to my room and didn’t come out for sometime. Then they came near the door and shouted ‘oye, get ready to come with us’.”, the boy said to the media.

The boy along with his mother lodged a complain with the Police Commission over the conduct of the Police.
