“This is a very happy moment for us” Sri Lanka says majority members didn’t support resolution

Sri Lanka Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardane told reporters that Sri Lanka is happy that The UN Core Group resolution failed to secure a majority at the United Nations Human Rights Council Session today.

“This is a very happy moment for us, resolution did not get the majority: 25 countries out of 47 didn’t support the resolution” Foreign Minister said.

Resolution of UN Core Group of countries on Sri Lanka was adopted at UNHRC earlier today with 22 in favour, 11 voting against;14 countries including abstaining. (NewsWire)
