Three- day travel restriction : Police reveal details on operating delivery services

Delivery services have been permitted to operate during the three- day travel restriction, which will come into effect from 11 pm today.

Police Spokesman DIGAjith Rohana said supermarkets, Lanka Sathosa, and restaurants have been instructed to remain closed and to only operate delivery services during this period.

He further said vehicles used by the delivery partners must be registered with the Police prior to launching the service.

Meanwhile, pharmacies will be permitted to remain open during the three- day travel restriction.

DIG Ajith Rohana said the pharmacies will be allowed to supply goods to the public, apart from operating a delivery service.

He said the public will be allowed to step outdoors during the travel restriction only to purchase medicines from pharmacies.

They have been advised to purchase medicines from the pharmacy closest to their residence, and will not be permitted to travel to pharmacies in other areas, the Police Spokesman said.

He further said all shops, including shopping malls will be closed during this period.

However, all economic centers, including the manning market and the Peliyagoda Fish Market will be kept open on these days only for wholesale trading. (NewsWire)
