The body of Sri Lanka Army Captain Surath Ranasingha who was reported missing while bathing in the Kalugala Gerandi Ella in Kuruwita was found yesterday.
The Kuruwita Police said the Military officer who was part of the Kuruwita Gemunu Hewa Regiment was a father of two and a resident of Millavitiya.
He is reported to have gone to the waterfall with a group of friends on Sunday (05).
Initially, two people had bathed in the waterfall and had stepped out, following which the Captain and another individual had entered the waterfall.
Due to a sudden increase in the water flow the two men had been swept away, with one managing to hold on to the branch of a tree and being rescued.
However, the Captain had been swept away and was reported missing, with his body not being found on Sunday (05).
The body was recovered yesterday together by the Kuruwita Police, officers from the Kuruwita Army camp, and area residents. (NewsWire)
