A decision has been taken to permit only fully vaccinated people to visit public places in Sri Lanka from the 15th of September.
Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said it will be mandatory for those who have obtained both doses of the Covid vaccine to carry their vaccination cards when visiting any public place.
He said hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, and other agencies have been requested to strictly follow the health guidelines.
General Shavendra Silva further said the inter-province travel ban currently in effect in Sri Lanka will be further tightened.
He said, however, the inter-province travel ban will not be in effect for those in the banking, agriculture, apparel, and tourism sectors, and essential services.
The Army Commander added that inter-provincial public transport will be halted with effect from midnight today.
The decisions were taken during the meeting of the National Covid Task Force that was held with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa this morning. (NewsWire)
