Two dead after Army truck toppled over Karadiyanaru bridge in Batticaloa

Two Army personnel have died after the vehicle they were travelling in had toppled over the Karadiyanaru bridge in Batticaloa.

Military spokesman Brigadier Nilantha Premaratne told NewsWire that four other Army officers who were also in the vehicle have been injured.

The injured officers have been admitted to the Chankalddy hospital following the accident.

The Army truck which was transporting a load of metal had met with the accident while travelling from Maha-Oya to Vakarai, he said.

Brigadier Premaratne further said Army personnel involved in the accident are officers attached to the 233 Brigade of the Vakarai Army Camp.

He added that the accident had occurred between 3.30 and 04.00 pm today. (NewsWire)
