A robbery has taken place at a fuel station in Maharagama at 06 am today.
Two unidentified men on a motorcycle had carried out the robbery by threatening an employee of the fuel station with a sharp object.
The suspects are said to have arrived at the fuel station under the guise of pumping fuel.
The two men had stolen close to Rs. 45,000 from the fuel station and had fled the area after abandoning their motorcycle.
The suspects had got agitated due to another employee of the fuel station arriving at the scene.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the men had entered the fuel station thrice prior to carrying out the robbery.
Further investigations have revealed that the motorcycle used in the incident had been stolen from a house on Wewa Road in Boralesgamuwa this morning.
The Maharagama Police has launched investigations into the incident. The robbery had been captured on the CCTV camera at the fuel station. (NewsWire)
