Two Sri Lankans have been recognized in this year’s BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year list.
Nature lovers Buddhilini de Soyza and 10-year-old Gagana Mendis Wickramasinghe have been included in the list.
Buddhilini de Soyza’s photo, ‘The Great Swim’, which shows male cheetahs paddling across the flood-swollen Talek River in Kenya’s Maasai Mara, has reached the top of the list.
Meanwhile, Gagana’s picture titled “Lockdown chicks” shows three rose-ringed parakeet chicks popping their heads out of a nest hole as their father returns with food.
According to the 10‑year-old photographer, the picture was taken from a balcony at his home in Colombo.
The overall winners in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition will be announced at an awards ceremony held on the 12th of October. (NewsWire)
