Unvaccinated people above the age of 30 have been prohibited from entering the Bandarawela and Mannar Towns with effect from yesterday (15).
Health officials said the decision was taken by the respective Coordinating Committees on the Prevention of COVID-19.
They said the move has been initiated to encourage people who have refrained from taking the vaccine to obtain it.
Unvaccinated people and those who had attempted to enter the two towns without vaccination cards were reportedly turned away by the Police and security forces personnel.
Roadblocks have been set up at the entry points of both the Bandarawela and Mannar Towns in order to prevent unvaccinated people from entering the two areas. (NewsWire)
