United National Party (UNP) Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe will be appointed to fill the National List seat secured by the party at the General Elections 2020.
UNP Chairman Vajira Abeywardena revealed this during a media briefing held in Galle.
Abeywardena said a common consensus was reached among party members for former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to represent the UNP in Parliament.
He said Wickremesinghe will take over the Parliamentary seat within the next one to 1 ½ months.
Commenting on the matter, UNP Deputy Chairman Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said a common consensus was reached to appoint Ranil Wickremesingeh to fulfill the UNP’s National List seat in Parliament.
However, details on whether Wickremesinghe will accept the Parliamentary seat and the date on which he will enter Parliament have not been officially revealed as yet. (NewsWire)
