A Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) member of the Panadura Pradeshiya Sabha has been tied to a lamp post after engaging in indecent behaviour under the influence of alcohol in the Galpana area.
The man was tied to the lamp post by a group of area residents after he had harassed them with his unruly behaviour and was later handed over to the Kalutara North Police.
The Police said the SLPP member had arrived in Galpana along with a group of friends to consume alcohol, and after being separated from the group he had commenced behaving in an indecent manner inconveniencing the residents of the Nahurupola area in Galpana.
The residents had thereafter tied him to a lamppost and had informed the Police via the Police emergency hotline.
The SLPP member had been produced before a doctor at the Nagoda hospital, during which the examinations had confirmed that he had consumed alcohol.
The Police said the SLPP member of the Panadura Pradeshiya Sabha will be produced before the Kalutara Magistrate’s Court today. (NewsWire)
