The notorious underworld figure Dineth Melon Mabula alias ‘Uru Juwa’ was shot dead by the police last night (May 11).
He was in Police custody when the incident took place in the area of Nawagamuwa, Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He was arrested on Monday (10) by Police and following a statement being recorded from the suspect he was taken to a location in Nawagamuwa based on the statement last night, said Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana.
“An incident had taken place at the location and the suspect died upon admission to hospital,” he said.
The 27-year-old from was wanted by Police over several cases of extortion and criminal activities, including murders.
