A discussion on the controversial Kerawalapitiya power plant deal that was held between leaders of the coalition parties of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna yesterday, ended without a decision.
Minister Wimal Weerawansa told reporters that the discussion ended with a difference of opinion between Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa and the party leaders.
He further said a discussion on the matter will be held with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on the next course of action to be taken, once the latter returns from the US.
It was recently reported, that the Cabinet had agreed to the sale of shares of the Yugadanavi power plant in Kerawalapitiya to a US company and had already signed an initial agreement.
Concerns have been raised by the Opposition that this deal poses a risk of manipulating the country’s governance. (NewsWire)
