The Police have revealed details about the identity of a woman who was found to be walking around the Kandana area recently in clothing similar to that of ‘Mother Mary’ worshipped by Catholics.
Video footage shared on social media had caused uproar among the public, with many assuming that she had portrayed ‘Mother Mary’. The video created curiosity among the public, with many raising questions about the woman.
According to a fact-checking website, Fact Crescendo Sri Lanka, inquiries had been made about the woman from the Kandana Police, who had revealed that she was a Russian national.
The Kandana Police further said that a statement had been recorded from the woman, in which she had revealed that she was involved in meditation and had engaged in a tour to Sri Lanka.
Stating that the woman was not suffering from any mental illness, the Kandana Police said the woman, who had been in her meditation attire, had walked around freely in Kandana during which various video footage had been taken of her.
The Police had also made inquiries from the Kandana St. Sebastian Church on the woman, to which the Church had confirmed that she had never visited the church and was not part of the institution. (NewsWire)
