Customs Trade Unions have warned the Government that they will not allow a third party to take over operations of the Department.

The President had made the suggestion as a solution, stating that the Department was filled with corrupt officials at present.

Condemning the statement, Customs Trade Unions told the media that it was unfair for the President to generalize all employees as corrupt.

They further said the President was being misinformed by certain businessmen who are functioning with the support of certain top bureaucrats in order for them to carry out their financial rackets.

Stating that despite various blames raised against the Customs Department, they said it has managed to meet the tax revenue target for the year 2020 by 99%. (NewsWire)
