Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka has said that the promotion of commander of Army General Shavendra Silva is justifiable while the promotion of defense Secretary Kamal Gunarathne to the rank of General is a political promotion.
Former commander of the Army made these comments replying to questions raised by journalists during a press conference.
“I can remember Kamal Gunarathne comment on stage during the General Election campaign that Sarath Fonseka is the best ‘General’ of the army, but he’s not talking about the ‘Field Marshall’. I can also comment the same way about him, but I don’t want to fall that low and demean him” he further said.
