WATCH : “I fasted 3 days during Ramadan” Former Cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya

Participating in ‘Standby with Lahiru’ talk show in Hari TV, former Sri Lanka Cricket Icon and MP Sanath Jayasuriya shared some of his past experiences and also his views on current social and political issues in the country.

Jayasuriya said that Caste system, which is rarely spoken about, is something still very much prevalent in the county, especially in politics.

“In Politics it is definitely there, you can never deny it” he said.

Jayasuriya also shared his experience of staying at a Muslim friend’s house during his early Cricket playing days. Responding to a question if he feels any difference in the Muslim community now compared to what he felt during the early days, he said:

“No I don’t. Muslim friends whom I’ve known for over 30 years are still the same, there is no difference in them. There are some who may have changed but my friends haven’t changed a bit over the years”

“I have fasted for about 3 days during Ramadan, I haven’t shared these with anyone before” Jayasuriya went on to say, taking a trip down memory lane.

In a light-hearted conversation, the former Sri Lanka Cricket captain also shared many experiences of his Cricket and Political careers.

“I got a simple Pass” Jayasuriya jokingly replied to a question from the host Lahiru Mudalige, on whether he thinks he passed or failed in Politics.
