Minister Udaya Gammanpila has issued a clarification on the controversy that arose over the Government’s acquisition of a property belonging to D.S. Senanayake College in Colombo for a development project.
The Minister said a multi-storey car park project had been proposed to be constructed on the property for the benefit of the school as well.
Gammanpila, who is also an old boy of D.S. Senanayake College further explained that he was unaware of the project and had raised the matter with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa following the Cabinet meeting held yesterday.
The President had informed that the project was initiated on the understanding that the school was satisfied with the project and had added that it will be suspended if they are unhappy with it, he said.
