Opposition MP Harin Fernando must be provided with utmost security, Minister Namal Rajapaksa said.
The Sports Minister made the statement to reporters following a discussion with a group of officials, including Wildlife and Forest Conservation Minister C.B. Ratnayake today.
Minister Rajapaksa said as the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is facing many internal issues at present, and if MP Harin Fernando intervenes and an issue emerges due to it, it will be blamed on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
He said due to these reasons, MP Harin Fernando must be provided with security.
“I think MP Harin Fernando must be granted security. This is because his party is facing many issues now. If Fernando intervenes in the issue then it will be blamed on the President. Therefore, we are also requesting the Inspector General of Police to provide security for the MP. This is because we believe with the issues in his party he requires such security. A few days ago, a former United National Party member who is currently with the Leader of the SJB said the report of the Commission appointed by former President Maithripala Sirisena must be submitted. He thought the reports of the Ministry of Housing and Construction during the tenure of MP Sajith Premadasa will be submitted to Parliament. If we look at this, there seems to be a big issue.
