WATCH : Minister Namal speaks about Ranjan’s verdict

The judiciary has acted in an independent manner when delivering its verdict on the contempt of Court case filed against MP Ranjan Ramanayake, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) said.

SLPP Susil Premajayantha told reporters that the verdict was delivered after nearly three years of consideration, and providing instances for the MP to submit his representations.

MP Ranjan Ramanayake was sentenced to four years rigorous imprisonment by the Supreme Court today.

Meanwhile speaking to reporters Minister Namal Rajapaksa said that the case against MP Ramanayake was filed under the previous Government.
