The fishing community of Sri Lanka has been severely affected following the detection of a coronavirus cluster within the Peliyagoda fish market in the Gampaha district.
The plight of many fishermen and their families following the initial outbreak in March deteriorated further with the detection of the Peliyagoda fish market cluster.
The detection prompted the public to refrain from purchasing fish out of fear of transmission via raw fish supplies.
However, Government Medical Officers Association Editor Dr. Haritha Aluthge clarified that the virus cannot be transmitted via raw fish, and urged the public to purchase fish and support the struggling fishing community of Sri Lanka. (NewsWire)
