Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa undertook an inspection of the Colombo Port City which today marks 06 years since the inception of the project.
Speaking to reporters following his tour, Prime Minister Rajapaksa said that the project had been delayed in the last 2 years due to various reasons.
However, the construction of the Colombo Port City has recommenced and the project will be considered as one of the key income generator for Sri Lanka in the future, he elaborated.
The Prime Minister further said that the Colombo Port City which is being constructed at an investment of US$ 15 billion will provide employment for nearly 83,000 individuals.
The construction of the Colombo Port City commenced on 17 September 2014 under the patronage of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa who was the President of Sri Lanka at the time. (NewsWire)
