WATCH : Rathana Thera responds to Minister Sabry, issues challenge for open debate

Our People’s Power Party MP Venerable Athuraliya Rathana Thera today challenged Justice Minister Ali Sabry for an open debate.

Speaking to reporters, MP Rathana Thera said it was regrettable that the Justice Minister had accused him of causing racial tensions by raising questions over the Muslim law in Parliament.

Minister Ali Sabry recently briefed Parliament on the public religious laws in the country, and the amendments being considered to the Muslim law.

He was responding to questions raised by Venerable Rathano Thera in this regard in Parliament.

Commenting on the Justice Minister’s statement, MP Rathana Thera said Minister Sabry should have responded to the questions as the Minister of Justice and not a representative of the Muslim community. (NewsWire)
