WATCH : Sports Minister speaks about Dasun’s Visa issue

Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa has called for a report on the incident that led to Sri Lanka Twenty-20 Skipper Dasun Shanaka’s failure to participate in the West Indies tour.

Shanaka was unable to join the Sri Lankan cricket team due to a technical issue with his transit visa to the United State of America.

Due to the delay in the process, the cricketer was unable to join the Sri Lankan team, resulting in former skipper Angelo Mathews being named as the new T20 skipper for Sri Lanka.

Commenting on the matter to reporters today, Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa said the matter at hand was the victory or loss of the National team in the series, and not about passport issues.

He said however, the Sports Ministry Secretary has been tasked with investigating the matter and submitting a report on the incident, following which the person at fault will be revealed soon.

The Sports Minister further said he has focused special attention on the discipline of cricket administrators, trainers and players as well. (NewsWire)
