A tense situation arose at the Consular Affairs Division of the Foreign Ministry today after the system had crashed inconveniencing hundreds of Sri Lankans attempting to travel overseas for employment.
The Consular Affairs Division announced yesterday that a breakdown has been reported of the Electronic Document Attestation System (e-DAS), affecting the Branch Attestation System at the Regional Consular Offices and Sri Lanka Missions overseas as well.
The Division further said it would be able to provide services for only 150 walk-in customers daily under these circumstances from today.
However, as the system was yet to be restored, hundreds of Sri Lankans who had arrived at the Consular Affairs Division were severely inconvenienced, resulting in a tense situation. (NewsWire)
