S.R. Attygalle, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance gave an update on the current Vehicle import ban in the country, during a press briefing held in Colombo
Answering questions raised by journalists, Mr. Attygalle said that the vehicle import restrictions will continue as the country is currently facing a severe foreign currency deficiency.
He also said that the ban would be lifted as soon as the economic situation and inflow of US dollars become normalized when Covid 19 pandemic situation eases worldwide.
The secretary to the ministry of finance also said that other import restrictions imposed last year have been gradually relaxed while only the vehicle import restriction is imposed currently.
