‘We missed out the real champion’ Rohit Sharma responds after failing to name Malinga

Team India opener Rohit Sharma roped in Indian all-rounder Suresh Raina for an interactive live session on Instagram as star cricketers picked a combined Mumbai Indians-Chennai Super Kings playing eleven.

Rohit, who is considered as one of the most successful captains in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) donned the selector’s hat with Raina and both T20 key campaigners selected a fantasy MI-CSK playing eleven captained by legendary MS Dhoni.

While Rohit started with Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and added key campaigners Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah in the combined eleven, the leader of the Mumbai Paltan missed out naming legendary Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga.

Rohit on Wednesday gave an honourable mention to Malinga when the official handle of the Mumbai Paltan shared Hitman’s MI-CSK combined XI. “We missed out the real champion, Mali my bad,” Rohit said in a tweet. Nicknamed Mali, the veteran speed merchant emerged as the matchwinner for the Mumbai Indians in the final-ball thriller against CSK last season. It was Malinga’s bowling exploits that helped Mumbai clinched an unprecedented fourth IPL title last year.
