The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory for severe lightning during thundershowers for several districts today.
Issuing a statement, the Department said the weather advisory is in effect from 2.30 pm until 11.00 pm.
It said thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, North-Central, and Eastern Provinces.
Thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are also expected in the Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, and Hambantota Districts.
The public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity. (NewsWire)
