WhatsApp: Major new feature to be introduced

WhatsApp is rolling out a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.23.10.14, WhatsApp Beta reported.

According to this new update, WhatsApp is working on a feature to introduce channels, and it will be available in a future update of the app!

The WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.8.6 update is working on channels, a new one-to-many tool for broadcasting information. With this feature, users will be able to easily receive useful updates from other people they want to get news from. WhatsApp is continuing to work on its channels feature to ensure that users have the best possible experience when it will be released. In particular, thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.10.14 update released on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on an introduction for channels, available in a future update of the app:

The Status tab will be renamed into “Updates”, the home for Status and Channels. Thanks to channels, you can stay updated on topics you matter more about, and the ones you follow will appear in this section of the app. When creating a channel, your privacy is always protected as channel followers cannot see your name, phone number, profile photo, and about, making channels a new private place.

With channels, you can share updates that matter to a certain audience, and you can connect with unlimited followers to share news, events, and more.

However, note that while the app indicates that a channel can have an unlimited number of followers, we cannot guarantee that there is no predetermined limit.

For example, there could be a possible limit of one million, which may create the impression of unlimited capacity, but this is purely speculative. We will have to wait and see what happens when the channels are released.

The ability to create channels is under development and it will be released to beta testers in a future update of the app. As always, we will post an additional article when we have further information to share with you. (NewsWire)
