Sri Lanka Cricket Chief Selector Upul Tharanga says premier batsman Pathum Nissanka was not considered for the Bangladesh Test series mainly due to the upcoming T20 World Cup.
“Pathum has a long-term issue of back pain when he plays a long innings, that’s why the medical panel had not recommended him for Test Cricket for some time now,” Chief Selector Upul Tharanga told NewsWire.
“We didn’t want to take a risk with the World Cup coming up, but after the World Cup, we will consider him for Test cricket, especially with the important tour to England,” he added. (NewsWire)
