Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa says only if newly appointed State Minister Shantha Bandara is removed from the post, the independent group of MPs are ready to discuss with the President.
The independent parliamentarians of the 11 constituent parties of the Government boycotted the discussion scheduled to be held with the President yesterday over Shantha Bandara’s appointment.
“They are completely wrong if they assume that they can overcome the economic crisis by just having 113 MPs, Basil Rajapaksa is playing his game again, he is approaching our MPs with ministries” MP Weerawansa said.
MP Weerawansa demanded that the Prime Minister and the Government must resign paving the way for a new all party administration in order to stabilise the country.
He said that they will only begin talks with President over the matter if SLFP MP Shantha Bandara is removed from his new State Minister position.
MP Wimal Weerawansa also slammed the recent statement made by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. (NewsWire)
