The National People’s Power (NPP) has nominated Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake for the presidency.
The SLPP youth wing has announced that it will support the decision by the SLPP faction led by Dinesh Gunawardena to elect Ranil Wickremesinghe as the President.
SLPP Chairman G.L. Peiris said the party will vote for Dullas Alahapperum and also approves the appointment of MP Sajith Premadasa as the Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Dayasiri Jayasekara says the SLFP will vote when the election for the Presidency takes place tomorrow in Parliament.
MP Jayasekara said the SLFP never said it will refrain from voting, adding they only hope to reach one final decision after holding discussions with all parties.
However, the Tamil National People’s Front (TNPF) has unanimously decided not to back any of the candidates nominated for the presidency, stating that the election for a new President in Parliament tomorrow offers no choice for the Tamil people or the TNPF. (NewsWire)
