Wind power project in Mannar “73% work completed”

The cabinet of Ministers today approved a proposal submitted by the Minister of Power to implement further actions with regard to the wind power projects in Mannar.

A 100MW wind power plant is being constructed in Mannar under a US$200 investment from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The physical progress of the project has reached 73% and the construction is expected to be completed by the beginning of 2021.

It is reported that 06 wind turbines can be installed at the power plant using US$47 million from the US$200 offered by the ADB.

This installation will increase the generating capacity of the power plant by nearly 20MW.
The cabinet has already granted the policy approval of the Asian Development Bank for the project. (NewsWire)
