Wrong economic decisions : COPE calls for investigation

The Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) has taken a special decision to recommend to the Parliament the appointing of a Select Committee to look into the economic decision-making process. 

COPE Chairman MP, Prof. Charitha Herath told NewsWire that the Select Committee will be tasked with looking into several aspects pertaining to the decision-making process on the economic crisis. 

He said this will include, wrong decisions, the delay in reaching out to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the current talks with the IMF, and the foreign exchange crisis, among others. 

Prof. Charitha Herath further said that the COPE Committee has suggested the appointing of a Parliament Select Committee to take a firm decision on the decision-making process related to the economic crisis.

He added that a special request will be made from the Speaker and the Parliament to appoint the said Parliament Select Committee. (NewsWire)
