STF has arrested a suspect over the recent attack on the restaurant in Soysapura, Moratuwa, Police said.
The arrest had been made by the STF at around 8 pm last night (30) in Eluwila, Panadura.
Unidentified gunmen opened fire at a hotel in Soysapura, Moratuwa, at 12:30 am on Friday.
CCTV footage shows gunshots were fired by a group which had arrived in a car, and fled the scene immediately after.
3 police officers who were stationed at the restaurant to ensure security and safety were later suspended.
The hotel first came under an attack by an unidentified group of persons wielding swords during curfew hours on May 19. Later on the 29th morning, an unidentified group opened fire at the restaurant while the 3 police officers were on duty.
Hotel owner has also handed over an audio clip to the police, claiming to be of the attacker who spoke to him on 30th May in the morning, threatening that he will kill him soon. In the audio clip, the attacker also openly challenges the police, saying that they can’t be of help to the hotelier.
Police says the arrested suspect is a person who is currently on bail after being arrested over the murder of father of national Cricketer Dhananjaya De Silva.
