President Gotabaya Rajapaksa encountered a unique situation relating to Toddy during a discussion held with the public in the Ratnapura district today.
A resident of the Waleboda area in Balangoda informed the President that he and his accomplice had been imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000 each for the possession of 15 bottles of toddy.
The man told the President that it would have been convenient if the amount was imposed on both instead of each person, resulting in the entire crowd including the President to erupt into laughter.
The incident took place when President Rajapaksa took part in the discussion in line with the ‘Gamak Samaga Pilisandarak’ program included in the Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour policy statement. (NewsWire)
